TAIPEI - TOILETPAPER STUDIO: Via Balzaretti n°4 Milano – A World of Surreal Creativity

TOILETPAPER, the avant-garde magazine founded by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, is renowned for its bold and provocative visuals. Its first exhibition in Taiwan, TOILETPAPER: The Studio, was a spectacular recreation of their Milan headquarters, offering visitors an immersive experience into their surreal world. I had the privilege of leading the project management for this exhibition, which took place at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei from June 25th to September 18th, 2022.

Bringing

TOILETPAPER to Taiwan

The exhibition allowed visitors to step into the TOILETPAPER universe, where everyday objects were transformed into strange and provocative art. From armchairs adorned with roses that blinked to tables with wiggling snakes, the space was filled with surreal elements that challenged perceptions of reality. The installation combined art, design, and everyday life in a way that only TOILETPAPER can.

As the Project Manager representing SELETTI, I took on the responsibility of coordinating the project from start to finish, ensuring seamless execution across all aspects. My role involved overseeing the design, logistics, and installation to ensure every detail was meticulously planned and executed. I worked closely with TOILETPAPER, who led the creative direction, and MMBP & Associates, who were instrumental in identifying commercial opportunities and managing legal, production, and licensing aspects, as well as consulting on marketing and PR. This strong collaboration between all parties was key to the exhibition’s success, driving significant media attention and engaging both art and design audiences.

Why It Matters

TOILETPAPER is a prime example of how art can transcend traditional boundaries. The exhibition showed how their distinctive style influences not just art, but also design, fashion, and even everyday objects. It was a truly immersive experience that allowed visitors to experience the creativity of TOILETPAPER beyond the pages of its magazine, blurring the lines between art, design, and life itself.
